2017 Brazilian Day Street Party | Berkeley

September 3

Free
Brazilian Day Street Party

Casa de Cultura hosts the 2017 Brazilian Day Street Party in Berkeley, marking Brazil’s independence from the United Kingdom of Portugal. Brazilian Independence, known in Brazil as Sete de Setembro, is celebrated across the world (from Berkeley to London) on September 7th, with the biggest celebration happening in, you guessed it, Brazil. Whether you’re Brazilian or not, Berkeley’s Brazilian Day Street Party is a fabulous event that welcomes all to participate in this very colorful and lively celebration!

Berkeley festival participants will enjoy traditional Brazilian dance, capoeira, free Brazilian dance classes, delicious Brazilian food and the Lavagem—a cleansing ceremony using song and dance. A procession for world peace will perform for the festival goers, most of whom wear white on this very special day. See below for the full schedule of events or visit the Facebook event page!
